It was almost another game where we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. But thanks to a stirring second half performance we won comfortably in the end.
On a tough pitch to play, we started well and created a number of openings but poor execution meant we didn't get the opening goal. The closest we got was when Thorpy smashed the crossbar. When Littletown scored from their first meaningful attack, there was the feeling of 'oh, not again'.
We regrouped at half time with a few tweaks and the lads responded brilliantly.
Most of the second half was played in Littletown's half, with the home side preferring the more direct approach.
We got back in the game, when Fin was pulled down in the area and Whelan made no mistake. We took the lead shortly after when a lovely flowing move released Fin Thorpy on the halfway line and he drove through to finish with aplomb.
We got the decisive third late on, when Raph who made an excellent impact on the game, was at the back post for a smart finish from an excellent cross from Thorpy.
Attention now moves to next week where we will be looking to continue our recent good form.
MOM - Fin Thorpy.
Started at right back due to a few missing but quickly moved to his more customary attacking right side position. Scored a goal, assisted one, hit the woodwork a couple of times and was a constant menace. Special mention to young Raph who made an excellent impact when he came on.
